BREZHNEV THORPE, MSW
Therapist• Coach• Facilitator• Change Maker
Brezhnev Thorpe is a former college athlete, father, life coach, mentor, somatic therapist, and helping professional whose work is grounded in motivation, resilience, emotional wellness, and personal transformation. With a professional background spanning business, sales, human resources, employee relations, case management, coaching, counseling, and investigations, Brezhnev brings a multidisciplinary perspective to his work with individuals, families, teens, couples, and emerging adults.
Brezhnev holds a Master of Social Work from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership Studies from Webber International University. His academic and professional foundation has equipped him with strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, clinical support, and systems-thinking skills.
Although his early career was rooted in business, sales, and coaching, Brezhnev later made an intentional shift toward his deeper passion: helping people heal, grow, and move forward with purpose. His commitment to service is personal. Having grown up as a young person who needed guidance, support, and advocacy, he has long been drawn to mentorship and community-centered helping work. Over the years, he has volunteered his time and provided meaningful support to individuals navigating personal, emotional, and life challenges. This lived experience continues to shape his direct, motivating, and empowering approach.
Brezhnev’s therapeutic work focuses on providing transformative mental health support to adults, couples, teens, and families. His clinical approach integrates talk-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, with somatic-based practices. He is trained in Brainspotting and incorporates somatic interventions to support deeper emotional processing, trauma recovery, and mind-body awareness. His work is rooted in the understanding that trauma and stress are not only cognitive experiences but can also be held in the body. Through a combination of insight-based, relational, and somatic approaches, Brezhnev helps clients access healing, build emotional resilience, and develop practical strategies for change.
In addition to therapy, Brezhnev offers mentorship and coaching services for teens and young adults in Tampa and surrounding areas. His mentorship work is designed to support young people as they manage challenges, strengthen self-awareness, develop life skills, improve performance, and move toward becoming the person they desire to be. While mentorship is not a substitute for formal counseling, Brezhnev recognizes the value of consistent guidance, accountability, encouragement, and positive role modeling in helping young people maximize their potential.
As a former athlete, Brezhnev often frames growth through the language of discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and performance. His personal mission is to help people reach their goals and score their internal “touchdowns” in life. Whether working through therapy, coaching, or mentorship, Brezhnev is committed to helping individuals reconnect with their strengths, overcome internal barriers, and get back in the game with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
